Position Purpose

Procure transportation solutions to deliver cost savings and meet customer service expectations through maintaining carrier relationships and strategic negotiations.

Number of Locations: Central purchasing from Orlando for all CHEP US locations

Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for delivering on line haul initiatives that offset inflation and produce cost savings of 100K
  • Manage and prioritize multiple long-term procurement events as well as short-term ad-hoc lane rate publications based on the requests from internal partners including planning, logistics and sales.
  • Serve as transportation subject matter experts that can provide support to internal partners.
  • Manage weekly transportation overspend processes to renegotiate rates and reduce  transportation spend
  • Ensure accurate rates and routing guides are in place to drive TLA above 80%.
  • Maintain a high level of understanding of transportation and stay up to date on new practices in the market
  • Participate in cross-functional projects that deliver process improvements and drive overall efficiencies within the CHEP network.
  • Ensure that all carrier selections are made with consideration to service level expectations.
  • Facilitate monthly service calls with regional and national carriers to address poor performance and identify root cause and corrective action.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to prioritize tasks based on urgency and communicate clearly across audiences.  
  • Required: BS in Supply Chain, Logistics or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: MBA, Six Sigma Green Belt

Experience

  • Transportation or logistics experience (2 years), transportation procurement preferred
