Position Purpose


This role is to perform audits and assessments that ensure compliance with contractually obligated activities and established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with 3rd party vendors across the CHEP USA & Canada Service Center network. This role is critical toward ensuring that adequate controls are in place to allow the Company to stay on course towards reaching its goals and achieving its mission by minimizing business risk. It also is critical in developing a control environment that sets the tone and influences control consciousness in Field Operations. This role is responsible for management and execution of the annual Service Center audit plan and programs as approved by the VP/Controller or Director, Risk and Compliance.


Major/Key Accountabilities       

  • Execute assigned audits, oversight and monitoring of audit compliance work across the Business Process Assurance team.

  • Develop and manage the Service Center audit coverage plan for the year with input from Operations and Risk and Compliance Management

  • Develop skills to become subject matter expert on operational finance issues in the field.

  • Execute compliance reviews and effective communication of audit results for non-HQ based activities via formal audit meetings with impacted parties in Finance, Operations, Engineering, and Accounting

  • Periodic summary report-out to Executive Team and key business partners of audit reviews conducted, progress, and any critical audit related issues

  • Manage, update, and publish automated dashboards utilized for monthly tracking of KPIs, remedial actions, and other critical audit metrics

  • Identify internal and external risks that affect the accuracy of financial transactions between CHEP and 3rd party operational vendors.

  • Develop and maintain specific SOPs and audit programs that aide in the implementation of sound policies and procedures that help ensure CHEP obtains assurance in field based controls

  • Participates in special projects, monitors controls, assesses the effectiveness of controls, and focuses on continuous improvement in alignment with strategic business initiatives

  • Analyse all significant activities and processes to determine compliance with contractual obligations and SOPs and makes recommendations for improvement through partnership with other CHEP teams

  • Provide support for the CHEP USA and Canada compliance activities as needed

  • Up to 60% travel required across the U.S.


Mandatory Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting (or similar background)

  • Manufacturing or Operational Supply Chain experience

  • Computer: Microsoft office applications


Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CIA or similar certification

  • At least 3 years of Corporate Internal Audit or Public Accounting experience



  • Skilled and applied accounting and or audit experience. Significant experience in a pooled asset company in operations, logistics or finance. Some supervisory or direct leadership experience


Skills and Knowledge   

  • Project Management skills and/or Green Belt certification

  • Comfort leading across and upward in the organization

  • Solid understanding and utilization of Microsoft Office, SAP, and Business Warehouse

  • Strong Excel, Communication, and Presentation skills


Languages Required English

Desirable Bi-lingual (Spanish)
