POSITION PURPOSE
Manage the development, approval and execution of capital engineering projects within budget and according to procedure in support of the CHEP USA Supply Chain.

As a manager of Project Engineers, ensures that team members are properly coached, supported and provided with needed resources and training to effectively execute and start-up capital engineering projects.

MAJOR / KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Lead the CHEP USA Project Engineering team in the execution of capital expenditure projects, while aggressively developing the individual skill sets of the team
• Lead the creation and execution of CHEP USA capital equipment projects from inception to completion, including project justification, equipment specifications and statements of work, installation, start-up and transition to production
• Collaborate with the USA Supply Chain and Finance organizations to identify and drive operating cost reductions through productivity projects, sharing direct accountability for initiatives and total cost out targets
• Collaborate with the US Quality and Zero Harm teams to identify and drive projects that improve product quality and/or worker safety
• Locate and qualify new equipment and Engineering service providers. Collaborate with the CHEP Sourcing team to drive robust supplier qualifications, performance standards and warranty strategies
• Ensure compliance with spending policies and associated financial controls and requirements related to capital expenditures
• Ensure that all capital engineering projects are executed to the highest standards of Zero Harm
• Provide timely and accurate reporting on project and spending status
• Seek innovations internally/externally to further meet our long term business objectives

QUALIFICATIONS
• Must have Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Master’s degree in Business or technical disciple is highly valued.

EXPERIENCE
• 5 to 7 years of project engineering and / or related project management experience.
• 5 to 8 years people management experience required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working as an engineer in an operations / manufacturing environment

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
• Able to effectively communicate with senior leadership
• Strong people coaching and development capabilities
• Effective & demonstrated collaboration and teamwork abilities
