Position Purpose

Develop and execute Construction and Industrial Equipment Installation Initiatives in support of CHEP North American Operations


Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Develop project plans and successfully execute them in accordance with established schedule, cost and performance standards.

  • Support the development of proper documents to include cost estimates and project justifications.

  • Manage all activities associated with execution of each project to include scope development, site selection, RFQ’s, PO generation, contractor selection, on-site supervision during the installation and start-up of equipment. 

  • Ensure that projects meet safety regulations and regulatory compliance. 

  • Coordinate internal and external resources for the flawless execution of projects. 

  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress for all key stakeholders. 

  • Coordinate training of on-site personnel as needed for system operation and maintenance.

  • Ensure proper handoff of completed projects to include as-built drawings, maintenance and operations manuals, and spare parts lists.

  • Manage multiple ongoing projects on behalf of CHEP:   

  • Provide status updates on construction/refurbishment projects

  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time

  • Provide supplier support as needed

  • Track CHEP CAPEX spend and management of CHEP owned assets

  • Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience in the Field

  • 5-7 years of Program Management experience

  • Demonstrated process improvement experience

  • Construction experience

  • Experience installing industrial equipment

  • Minimum 5 years prior construction experience


Skills and Knowledge   

  • Expert Project Management Skills

  • Experience in sawmilling/timber industry desirable

  • Knowledgeable in industrial engineering and material handling. 

  • Understanding of construction procedures and project management principles

  • Lean Manufacturing

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle complexity

  • Ability to work across cultures and manage multiple stakeholders

  • Familiarity with construction/ project management software and MS Office

  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality
