POSITION PURPOSE
The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, as well as setting the tone for the overall operational control environment of the business including: the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to measure and help mitigate risk, ensuring the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and enforcing compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards and Brambles accounting and administrative policies.

MAJOR / KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Accounting & Control: For the division, manages and directs the end-to-end Record to Report /financial accounting processes, including the monthly close process to BRACS approval. Is directly responsible for ensuring the balance sheet and profit and loss are accurately reported and represent a true and fair view of the business results.
• Keep IFCO North American and global executives abreast of developments in IFCO RPC NA financials, risk areas, and key elements of control environment
• Manage a system and environment where the department consistently, accurately and timely records all financial and non-financial transactions
• Support key system developments (i.e. establish Canadian entity, Lean Logistics integration, customer contract workflow, new CRM platform)
• Development and management of control processes and routines, and the team’s capabilities
• People & Leadership: Attracts, retains and develops the sub-region team by providing regular feedback, coaching and training to support identified capability and technical competency needs.
• Manage daily operations of the accounting department, including the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, and fixed asset records
• Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records
• Maintain well controlled and designed multi-currency treasury environment
• Interface with outside audit firms(s), and internal functional teams, including Treasury, insurance, audit, legal, tax and risk management
• Internal Audit & Risk: Coordinates the provision of information to internal auditors as required.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements
• Develop and retain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department and organization's objectives
• Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements

AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING
Finance approval limits as defined by the Brambles, BU and CBU LOA matrix
Customer Contract Management
Credit management (credit limits, credit holds, payment plans)
Invoicing credit memo review and approval
Sortation Invoicing (both inbound and outbound)
Capex PO – together with VP Operations and COO
Fixed asset write-offs
Vendor payment processing
Various judgmental journal entries
Development of structure of new RPC pool depreciation tracking workbook
Approval of policies and changes in processes and SOP’s relevant or specific to role
Approval of journals and balance sheet accounts as defined in accordance with policy

CHALLENGES
• Charting course for control environment gains with lean finance and IT organization
• New geographies (i.e. Canada, South America) require close attention to ensure growth remains well controlled
• Working across multiple countries, time zones, currencies, languages, cultures, regulatory and tax environments

KEY CONTACTS
This position will need to work closely with all members of Sr. Mgmt., plant level management, IFCO PMS Finance for tax reporting purposes, Brambles HQ

External:
This position will be required to work with the global production vendor (based in The Netherlands), external auditors, and various state agencies

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• CPA and/or MBA preferred

EXPERIENCE
• Big 4 experience preferred
• Experience with local GAAP applicable to the region
• 10+ years of relevant supervisory and leadership experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
• Advanced proficiency with Excel required
• Proficiency with SAP strongly desired
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and constraints
• Detail oriented and highly organized
