Position Purpose

Responsible for the coordination CHEP collections from retail store locations as well as additional collections or deliveries made using the same equipment and maximizing the utilization of transportation assets in their assigned area of coverage. Proactively manages cross-functional relationships with internal and external business partners to ensure a collaborative approach to providing world class customer service at optimal cost.  Resolves challenges that create interference and delay in the scheduled routing to prevent service failures. Facilitate strategic partner environment with common carriers and third party partners in markets where service is outsourced to ensure customer service and cost goals are achieved.

 

Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Develop & implement reverse logistics solutions & strategies as both a project leader and individual contributor

  • Ensure store collections are executed as scheduled and any deviations from schedule are communicated to the customer(s) expediently

  • Oversee store collection routing and make adjustments as necessary based on customer requests, optimization efforts, or other variables.

  • Identify additional uses for CHEP equipment in order to fully utilize the available capacity of each truck. This will involve working with local drivers, CHEP Commercial business partners, CHEP Asset Recovery Reps and leadership, CHEP Logistics, and other internal and external partners.

  • Daily resolution of service requests, invoice reconciliation, and data entry necessary to record productivity on the collection routes

  • Maintain electronic documentation for responsible area with system tools such as (but not limited to) SAP, Siebel, Outlook, BlueView, Lean, etc.

  • Partner with CHEP Transportation and CHEP Asset Recovery to manage carrier base to ensure consistent customer service and on-time delivery.

  • Monitor and report driver-specific and market performance for all functions being performed by the specific equipment included in scope of work.

  • Identify and action continuous improvement opportunities for CHEP drivers and customer locations in order to improve quality of service, financial performance and other KPIs.

  • Ensure all drivers and customers are aware of CHEP Zero Harm expectations and procedures and that all these expectations are followed during collections/deliveries.

  • Identify knowledge sharing opportunities among different markets and facilitate in order to improve overall network performance.

  • Address all customer issues/questions specific to store-level collections or escalate to appropriate teams internally.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven ability to deliver results over both short-term and long-term timeframes needed.

  • Experience identifying continuous improvement and growth opportunities required.

  • Route planning experience preferred.

  • Experience coordinating or working with multiple customer-facing employees required.

  • Experience creating, generating and communicating performance reports required.

  • B2B Customer-service and/or 3PL transportation management experience preferred.

  • Experience working with multiple teams on cross-functional initiatives preferred.

  • Experience coordinating the planning and leading implementation of new processes preferred.

  • Transportation network planning ideal.

 

Skills and Knowledge

  • Critical thinking skills and ability to create a strategic plan are a must.

  • Ability to work well independently and strong decision making skills are a must.

  • Able to identify and communicate issues to leadership.

  • Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT Regulations preferred.

  • Proficiency with one or more types of routing software preferred.
