Position Purpose

This regional leadership role is responsible for all aspects of regional accounting operations for North America Pallets, including the monthly close, production of periodic financial reports and maintenance of accounting records, processes and systems to support the accuracy of financial results in compliance with IFRS and local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Defines policies and procedures required to maintain the control environment and ensures visibility and governance of the end-to-end Controllership activities. Responsible for all BRACS (consolidation) reporting and reconciliation across all NA entities.

Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Policy & Compliance: Accountable for the implementation and delivery of an effective Control Environment and Internal Control Framework, through the cascade of group policies and procedures across the region. Responsible for monitoring policy compliance and creating action plans to address performance gaps, by providing feedback on Policy and Compliance on a regular basis.

  • Accounting & Control: Manages and directs the end-to-end Record to Report accounting processes, including the monthly close, data submission and BS reviews.  Accountable for the interpretation and application of accounting standards in accordance with global policies and local country requirements. Responsible for ensuring the balance sheet and profit and loss are accurately reported and represent a true and fair view of the business results. Maintains effective balance sheet control through regular stewardship reviews. Conducts Genpact review for record to report outsourced processes to ensure an effective, efficient and quality service is delivered.

  • Regional R2R GFS Point of Contact: Serves as the point of contact for the business and Finance for all Genpact related concerns; conducts reviews to ensure an effective, efficient and quality service is delivered, collaborate with the NA RPO to address performance concerns as required.

  • Working Capital Management:  Accountable for managing the regions working capital management requirements, including strategies to achieve, target setting and performance reviews. Responsible for monitoring the performance of the available cash targets/results delivered by the I2C/Genpact team and for collaborating with the Business Partner to set the working capital and cash flow targets (including DSO and CDO metrics) across the region.

  • Management Reporting:  Ensure all business unit and departmental data in NA is submitted in BRACS, review all integrity reports to ensure all edit checks are cleared, review BS, P&L, and CF for all entities to ensure they are calculated and apportioned correctly, review intercompany balances and mismatch report for any differences, prepare reconciliations

  • Statutory Reporting: Responsible for managing the timely and accurate preparation of activities to support the Brambles and local in country statutory accounts for the region. This includes the preparation of accounting technical papers, audit schedules, management declarations and financial minimum control standards, so that the Directors can sign off on their fiduciary duties for the entities within the region and more broadly for the group.

  • External Audit:  Manages the relationship with appointed external auditor firm for the region and coordinates the external audit program including coordinating the provision of information.

  • Tax: Company Income Tax:  the regional controller is responsible for supporting the preparation of the income tax work papers for submission to the regional tax mangers for timely income tax filings. Transfer pricing:  Supports the regional tax managers by ensuring SOP’s and procedures are implemented to support and execute the methodologies in accordance with the registered intercompany agreements. Transactional Taxes:  Partner with the local indirect Tax Manager to ensure timely and accurate filing including payment of transactional taxes – GST, VAT, Withholding, Property, Sales etc.

  • Treasury: Responsible for the management of cash requirement/funding forecasts mandates and authorities for banks, credit/purchase cards and cash disbursements.

  • Internal Audit & Risk: Coordinates the provision of information to internal auditors as required.  Responds to internal audit findings by developing recommendations to improve controls and mitigate risk. Coordinates the systematic and complete collection of insurance and sustainability data for the entities within region.

  • Regional Organization Transformation and Standardization:  Implement global Controllership initiatives to ensure harmonization across regions

  • Chart of Accounts Governance:  For the region, governs and monitor the chart of accounts, ensuring accounts are being used appropriately; identify opportunities to rationalize accounts

  • Responsible for providing the Business Partner and Business Leader with line of sight on the financials so that they are able to confidently provide sign off              

  • People & Leadership:  Attracts, retains and develops the regional controller team by providing regular feedback, coaching and training to address capability and technical competency gaps.



  • The effectiveness of the control environment as measured by internal audit reports and stewardship reviews

  • The level of compliance for the region; e.g. timely and accurate submissions (stat. & tax)

  • The level of standardisation and process harmonisation achieved

  • The level of employee engagement and enablement as measured by the BES score, the number of internal movements and the level of attrition


Authority/Decision Making

  • Finance approval limits as defined by the Brambles, BU and CBU LOA matrix

  • Delegated authority to act as a Company Officer of the in-scope entities (includes local signing authority on company returns or approval of payments)

  • People related decisions on recruitment, selection, and redundancy within the law as they relate to staff within the Business Partner sub-function

  • Approval of policies and changes in processes and SOP’s relevant or specific to role

  • Approval of journals and balance sheet accounts as defined in accordance with policy



  • Working across multiple countries, time zones, currencies, languages, cultures, regulatory and tax environments

  • Navigating the complexity of working in a matrix structure

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Finance/ Accounting or in a relevant finance technical discipline

  • Mandatory: Certified Accountant (e.g. ACA, CIMA, CPA, CA relevant to the market(s))



  • 8+ years’ experience in public company or foreign listed company multinational environment reporting required; IFRS experience preferred

  • Experience with local GAAP applicable to the region

  • Big 4 or comparable audit experience desirable

  • Previous experience working within or alongside a ‘back office’ shared service environment

  • Previous experience in working with a global finance team associated with geographically diverse businesses; fluency in foreign language(s) preferred

  • Previous experience managing managers

  • Previous experience in driving change management initiatives


Skills and Knowledge   

  • Good understanding of FP&A, Commercial and Supply Chain Finance processes

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
