POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Application Manager will be responsible for the overall administration, supervision and development of the company’s application development group within the Technology Department.

Duties also include assisting operational and strategic execution of business programs as it relates to IT. A strong sense of business, application, infrastructure and service acumen is required to effectively perform.

MAJOR / KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Leadership
• Accountable for a broad portfolio of applications, services, and projects leveraged by Brambles Recycled employees, stakeholders, and customers including
   o Web, Mobile, Business Applications
   o Data Warehouse, BI, and Analytics
   o Integration Services web, mobile and business applications
• Point of escalation for any issues with products or application resources
• Supervises and accountable for delivery of development team including managing day-to-day activity, setting and managing priority, and interfacing with business stakeholders and technology leadership to align with strategic objectives
• Accountable for individual development plans to grow and develop direct reports
• Manage small team of consultants and vendors and accountable for overall delivery
• Remove barriers that thwart or delay deliverables and/or growth opportunities
• Assisting in definition, estimation, and evaluation of technology projects
• Assist with P&L budget related activities
• Act as Business Relationship Manager (BRM) for internal customers

Application Team
• Drive engagement and look for ways to make team more productive and efficient
• Leader within the organization and provide mentoring to junior Technology operations and development team members
• Leads team needs assessments, develops job qualifications and performs technical interviews
• Manages self and project deliverables to deliver on time and on budget
• Collaborates across Technology organization and broader CHEP/Brambles to ensure alignment with business and customer strategy
• Regular scheduling of change control reviews

Architecture and Process
• Drive technical roadmap for the supported businesses and products
• Be on the lookout for technology trends and help understand how those trends can be leveraged to support business
• Owns the SDLC process and accountable for leading teams in executing against best-practice Agile & Waterfall processes
• Reviews and recommends potential tools and techniques to increase the effectiveness of the application development team.
• Accountable for improving application architecture maturity for existing systems and design of scalable, mature, and modern architecture for new development
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and incorporate as and when necessary.
• Work with Management and Infrastructure teams in capacity planning by defining meaningful performance metrics for product testing, scaling, and sizing.
• Introduces and implements industry best practices to team

Customer Service/Service Delivery
• Tier-2 escalation for support during high-priority operational events
• Ensure timely response to production issues, either directly or by the team
• Accountable for partnering with business stakeholders to drive application and service quality

Communication
• Works with the business and support staff to identify opportunities for improvements
• Works with all levels of the business to flush out the final requirements

MEASURES
• Provide performance metrics that align to the IT and business goals
• Cost effectiveness (on-time, on-budget with normal project forecast cadence)
• Direct IT-related savings metrics
• Internal customer satisfaction
• High Availability of customer facing systems
• Attainment of informal SLA’s
• Support Ticket SLA’s
• Completion of regular DR and internal application audits
• No deviation from supported versions and maintenance agreements

AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING
• Direct authority over application resources but collaborating with PMO to ensure best prioritization of resources
• Influence vendor selection as it pertains to application project streams
• Control over coordination and development as it relates to Global IT projects and initiatives
• Enterprise architecture decisions with final approval from leadership as it relates to cost and strategic direction
• Recommend Technical solutions to find the most appropriate approach to meet the needs of the business while being conducive to development activity streams

• Full-stack development that includes application, database, and front-end
• Solution architecture, web application development and code review utilizing modern web technologies including HTML5, AJAX, etc.
• Microsoft Dynamics CRM experience
• Responsible for full development life cycle from planning through successful release and support
• Lead software design reviews, code reviews, test plans, etc.
• Strong Project Management skills
• Strong familiarity with Agile development practices
• Firm understanding in Software Development Life Cycle
• University degree in computer science, information management or a related field; or relevant experience
• Strong Problem Solving Skills
• Highly self-motivated
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Proven and demonstrable experience architecting, designing and implementing web-scale, high volume, high availability systems.

Technical knowledge of Microsoft Development including:
• .Net Development
• MVC
• WCF and Web Services
• TFS
• SSAS

Problem analysis and resolution:

EXPERIENCE
• BS and/or MS in Computer Science or Software Engineering
• At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with 3 years in a senior or architect role.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience leading development or architecture teams.
• Team lead or project management experience preferred
• Passion for coding
• High level programming skills (C# .NET)
• Experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills
• Knowledge of version control and object-oriented concepts
• Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with technical tools and technologies
• Fluency in English essential
