Position Purpose

As a key member of the operations team, main accountability will be the overall supervision of the all shift operations with concentration on personnel safety, product quality, and operational effectiveness of the facility.  Follows and enforces all facility safety policies ensuring the highest operational safety standards.  Utilizing current and future quality control processes to ensure

product meets or exceeds IFCO Systems’ product quality standards.  Meet or exceed production goals as designated by senior management for the facility.

 

Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for documentation processes including shift summary sheets, product wash sheets, recollection wash processes, quality processes and paperwork, cleaning processes and paperwork.

  • Enforce safety policies and processes for all personnel within the plant.  Ensure all PPE is being worn per IFCO Systems standards and ensuring AIB standards are upheld.

  • Provide personnel training and enforcement of all operational functions within the facility.

  • Ensure all required expectations are being met or exceeded with regard to quality, machine operation, productivity, and safety. 

  • Follow best practices and SOP’s concerning shift/machine operation ensuring effective and productive performance in keeping with the highest standards expected by IFCO Systems for their customers.

  • Support and assist in future duties/projects as assigned by management.

  • Manage all shift employees according to IFCO policies.

  • Promote policies, procedures and programs at the location to ensure fairness and respect for individuals and legal compliance.

  • Contribution towards achieving operational KPI’s related to output quality, safety and cost.

  • Meet or exceed established employment compliance requirements and deadlines

 

Scope

  • Number of Staff (direct):  40

  • Number of Staff (indirect): Varies, 10 including temporary staff

  • Total (FTE):  Varies, between 50-70 including temporary staff

                               

Authority/ Decision Making

  • Resolution of internal and external customer and employee issues as guided by IFCO policies and processes

  • Provides guidance and makes recommendations for hiring and terminations as guided by IFCO policies and processes

 

Challenges

  • Working autonomously with quickly changing customer and operational requirements that necessitate forward and proactive

  • thinking.

  • Managing and motivating staff in a production environment.

  • Supporting various work schedules including weekends.

  • General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Director of Service Center Operations, Service Center Supervisors and employees

  • Local and National Logistics providers, suppliers, third party administrators, retail customers, service center provider vendors and health service providers

 

Qualifications  

  • Previous leadership and supervisory position within high volume production operation 

 

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a production supervisor

  • 2+ years of experience in a production environment with 50+ employees.

 

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both management and subordinates

  • Problem solving skills

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and negotiate or influence appropriate outcomes.

  • Ability to diffuse personnel issues and take appropriate actions while minimizing disruption of operations

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Demonstrated successes in handling multiple priorities

  • Proven planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle high volume operational requirements

  • Familiarity with both OSHA and DOT regulations and requirements strongly preferred

  • Results-oriented and can meet deadlines and commitments

  • Mechanically Inclined (electric/conveyor knowledge is a plus)

  • Forklift Operation experience preferred.
