Position Purpose

  • The Manager, Retail Development is responsible for generating incremental volume into the following channels, Home & Hardware, Auto Aftermarket, Pharma, Industrial, Specialty Retail, Office, and Natural & Organic.  The Manager, Retail Development  will execute on the growth strategy for the US business in these channels.  This will be done by adapting CHEP’s solutions to our “customers/prospects” strategies and their supply chain needs.  Identify 1-2 solutions in each channel that can be replicated in order to benefit like companies in those industries.  The Manager, Retail Development will need to identify the buying influences (Economic, Coach, User, Technical) within each customer/prospect in order to build the trust and integrity needed to develop strong relationships.        


Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and deliver upon KPI’s critical to the unique growth of new channels

  • Develop a portfolio of supply chain solutions with each new channel

  • Ensure key strategic partnerships among the new customer base

  • Build relationships with multiple levels and areas within a prospects company

  • Detailed information tracking on each customer/prospect (current vol., total vol. opportunity, past challenges, current opportunities, # of locations)



  • KPI’s, Volume by company and as a whole for all channels

  • Supply chain solution development and Joint Business Plans

  • Near Miss Reporting

Essential Qualifications:

  • Sales hunting skills

  • Strategy development

  • Critical multi department collaboration   

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Miller Heimann Conceptual Selling

  • Miller Heimann Strategic Selling

  • CPG Industry expertise



  • 10+ years total experience in sales, supply chain and/or logistics showing motivation and enthusiasm for continued learning

  • Logistics or FMCG experience

  • Prior Industry Experience Preferred

  • Solutions sales complex Selling

  • Reviewing and Executing Legal Contracts


Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to represent senior leadership with top customers/prospects

  • Understand a complex sale and the customers supply chain needs
