Position Description
 

Position Purpose

This is an external consulting role providing supply chain advisory services to the CHEP customer base primarily in the CPG manufacturing and retail space. Services include but are not limited to:

 

  • Supply chain modeling and optimization

  • Inventory/ordering analysis and optimization

  • Unsaleables reduction assessment and strategies

  • Distribution center operations assessment and identification of efficiencies

  • Production / manufacturing operations assessment and identification of efficiencies

 

Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Project Delivery (75%): Responsible for independently executing supply chain advisory engagements with CHEP customers. Expected activities include:

    • Project management of engagements, managing client expectations, providing executive status reports

    • Developing hypothesis-driven issue trees, work plans, and interview guides

    • Gathering data from customer site visits, data requests, customer interviews

    • Modelling operations and financials using Excel and proprietary supply chain modelling software

    • Developing PowerPoint executive deliverables following logic principles from Minto and top-tier consulting delivery formatting and verbiage

 

  • Proposal Support (15%): Responsible for partnering with the CHEP sales team as a supply chain subject matter expert to help identify and scope opportunities for supply chain advisory engagements. Expectations include:

    • Facilitating exploratory client workshops to identify needs

    • Gathering data to validate estimated benefits from proposed engagements

    • Developing PowerPoint proposal documents with business case

    • Drafting Statements of Work

 

  • Strategy Support (10%): Responsible for supporting departmental strategy to further grow CHEP’s supply chain advisory services. Efforts could include:

    • Supporting market segmentation and needs assessment efforts

    • Benchmarking existing and new offerings against competition

    • Supporting the training of CHEP sales teams to help identify opportunities

    • Publishing and presenting relevant point of view (POV) material to increase CHEP’s position in the supply chain advisory space

    • Continuous personal skill building and acquisition of differentiating industry knowledge

 

Measures

  • Shared team objectives include CHEP advisory revenue, and total value created for customers

  • Individual objectives include metrics around billable utilization, sales support metrics, external eminence building activities, and specific project measures

 

Scope

U.S. and Canada based customers

 

Authority/ Decision Making

Recommendations for project scope and pricing made to Director of Supply Chain Solutions / VP of Marketing, Sales Finance, and relevant CHEP Sales leadership for approval

 

Travel:40% – 80% primarily in the US and Canada, as project demand dictates

Qualifications Required:

  • Undergraduate degree

  • 2+ years of consulting experience

    • Experience supporting development of consulting proposals and statements of work

    • Experience developing executive level deliverables in PowerPoint

    • Experience developing operational and financial models in Excel

  • 4+ years of supply chain experience

  • 4+ years of process improvement experience

  • 4+ years of commercial/customer-facing experience

 

Desired:

  • 4+ years of consulting experience

  • 6+ years of supply chain experience

  • 6+ years of process improvement work

  • MBA with focus in operations or analytics

  • CPG manufacturer and/or grocery/discount retail experience

  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification

 

Languages Required: English; Desired: French or Spanish
